As a general recommendation, 1/2" is best for smaller dogs or medium dogs up to 45 pounds that do not pull heavily while 3/4" is best for larger dogs or strong pullers. 

Washable, easy-care, waterproof, UV resistant, and STINKPROOF! BioThane® will not stretch, mold or rot, and it holds its flexibility in very cold weather. Under normal use, it will outlast leather and nylon.
